Serial numbers tend to jump around a bit and a precise serial number/date chart is not known for this model. Some instruments were stamped H. Selmer some were not. All were stamped Adolphe Sax 84 Rue Myrha. Some instruments were assembled by salvaging parts from the old Adolphe Sax saxes and other were put togther using parts from the Selmer St. Louis Gold Metal models.

There were two series of Dorsey horns. The first series was made in 1937 with serial numbers 24xxx and the second in 1939 with serial numbers 27xxx

Mark VII is only applicable for alto and tenor saxophones. Selmer never made a Mark VII model for soprano, bari, sopranino or bass sax. For these instrument types, the Mark VI production model was continued until 1980 when the factory was completely retooled for the Super Action 80 series.
